BotBorgs: The Most Hyped Solana Mint to Date?

Introduction

BotBorgs is a collection of 10k NFT’s on the Solana blockchain. Being one of the more hyped mints in recent history, BotBorgs sold out their 10k collection during whitelist to 10k unique wallet addresses. This is unheard of and the highest rate of unique ownership that has happened for a Solana NFT.

What caused such success? Many people have been asking this. The BotBorg team focused on building before mint. The Borgverse, renamed after the BotBorgs took over, has been under construction since July. The Borgverse is an open world meant to host multiple games. The BotBorg team worked to build out a demo that they released before mint. This gave investors confidence they were building and that they would continue.

Utility

BotBorgs have many utilities, the first being the art. Mekka and robot-style art has become popular with projects such as Taiyo Robotics and Mekkas, but the BotBorg teams' art is different. The BotBorgs are 3D and resemble a human/robot hybrid.

The main utility of BotBorgs are the perks that come within the Borgverse. The benefit you BotBorg gives you is access to private planets and events in the Borgverse. The Borgverse is going to be made up of a multitude of planets that feature different games and different style games ranging from personal to PVP to community. Having a BotBorg NFT will allow you to visit some places in the Borgverse and attend events only owners can.

A couple more in-game features for BotBorgs are custom skins and leveling perks. Your BotBorg will help you level up faster than if you did not have one and this will come with special perks. This will help you gain advantages faster in-game.

When traveling from planet to planet in-game, you will be transported fast and free if you have a BotBorg. It is assumed players without a BotBorg will have to pay an in-game fee of some kind to travel.

Your BotBorg will also give you governance over the Borgverse. The community will play a part in building the rest of the game and will have a say in what is built and how it is built. Owners will also have priority in BotBorgs planet auctions and initial coin offering.

Planet auctions will be very limited. If you buy a planet, you will have rights to what is created on it, the name, placement within the Borgverse, and a few more benefits including a planet owners only Discord.

A few other benefits of owning a BotBorg are exclusive airdrops and special whitelist opportunities. They have also recently started a DAO and funded it with 555 $SOL and a ShadowySuperCoder.

Team

The BotBorgs team is stellar. With a total of 11 core team members listed on their website, there is no shortage of experience in any area.

Dagen is the lead project director. He makes a lot of the announcements and seems to lead manage the team. He heads up partnerships and operations and has 7+ years of experience in marketing.
Shade is the executive producer. He is the lead game developer and has over 13 years of experience in game development.
Chris is in charge of game mechanics. Chris works on all NPC’s and in-game interactions. He has 7 years' experience.
Andy is BotBorgs lead blockchain developer. He works on in-game implementation and mechanics. He has 3 years of experience.
Jenni is the lead environment artist. She directs a team of artists on the creation of the planetary environments and PVP game interactions. She has 8 years of experience.
Ryan is the UI designer. He is in charge of options and menus on planets for in-game use and has 6 years of experience.
Mark is in charge of level design. He designs levels and environments for the single-player planets and has 3 years of experience.
CGRAY is the character creation lead and VFX designer. He is the head of BingoArtStudio, a company that designs 3D characters and has been around since 2013. They have worked with the likes of EA and Blizzard.
Xiang is a character/asset artist. He is part of the BingoArtStudio and leads in-game vehicle (spaceship) design. He has 8 years of experience.
Kabir is the front-end developer. He does all the front-end design for both websites and has 5 years of experience.
Tahir is the concept artist. He creates art for the 3D artists to base their art on and has a total of 7 years of experience.

Significance: What Other Projects Can Take Away

BotBorgs has been an extravagant success. Their collection did not even make it to public sale. This is extremely impressive because BotBorgs raised their mint price to 2.5 $SOL before mint. This angered some people, but because of the falling price of $SOL, they were forced to do this to have enough funding to continue. It seems very reasonable that they raised the price because the price is fiat barely changed, if at all, and they worked incredibly hard to get 4 planets out as demos before mint. Although the mint price was raised, BotBorgs climbed more after mint. Hitting a price floor of 6 $SOL, investors who minted have seen over a 2x already.

Botborgs sold out and had massive success despite having some fud about mint price prior to mint. This shows that putting in the time and waiting to release (they’ve been working since July) pays off. The BotBorgs team worked incredibly hard to get demos out before mint and this also gave investors confidence that they would continue high-quality work.

Closing Comments

BotBorgs are currently sitting at a price floor of 3.5 $SOL (Feb. 2). Although down from the peak, this team still has a lot to implement and seems to be here for the long run. The BotBorgs team announced yesterday they would begin implementing features in the Borgverse. They are placing a heavy emphasis on getting features out fast and building quickly for their community. Because of this, they will be fixing bugs in the game throughout the week and sending the necessary updates to their community.

Time Sensitive Opinion

If you are a video game fan, BotBorgs seems to be one of the most prominent crypto-games in the Solana Ecosystem. Being well rounded in every area and having a great work ethic, this project seems to be set up to prosper long-term.

With many more features to be implemented including a token, other game features, and more, BotBorgs seems like a solid bet. As crypto gaming grows, the competition will become more stout. BotBorgs has a head start and momentum, and with team-building as fast as theirs is, we expect this to continue.
